A Providers’ Conference for recognised institutions was held on the 8th and 9th November 2010. The aim of the conference was to create opportunities for colleagues from institutions and the Undergraduate Laws Programme to discuss ways in which we can enhance our future relationship. The theme for the conference was chosen as “Communities of Good Practice, But Whose?” and was led by a keynote address from Simon Askey, the Deputy Director of the Undergarduate Laws programme. Topics for discussion included: the new credit and award framework, plans for curriculum and syllabus review and the Laws Programme’s new Teaching and Learning strategy. The conclusions drawn from various interactive sessions were collected and it was clear that as the Laws programme enters an ambitious phase of change and redevelopment it is necessary to engage with provider institutions more than ever to ensure that the acquisition of knowledge and skills is effectively promoted within the context of our students’ and institutions’ cultural context.
