On 29th November, the UK Government published a ‘Green Paper’ on corporate governance reform. It focuses on two key areas, namely the control of executive pay, and giving stakeholders (especially employees and consumers) greater recognition within the company. The Government is now consulting the public on the reform options which are identified in the Green Paper, and will in due course decide what, if any, changes to the law, or to existing corporate governance codes, may be appropriate.
